If Fantasy Football points applied to Grimsby Town players: October

I’m supposed to do these immediately after the last game of every month, but I keep forgetting. Yes, hello and welcome to another one of those blogs where you get to see who Grimsby Town’s top performing player of the season is so far, according to the system they use over at Fantasy Premier League.

A lot has happened since I meant to publish this, and when I say ‘a lot’ I mean Padraig Amond has scored a shit load of goals. So please push that to the recesses of your mind, for now, and try and take yourself back to a time when Town had just put in a totally meh performance at home to Cheltenham and had slipped to 9th in the league.

This is what the table looked like at the end of October:

Top 10 best performing players as of the end of October 2015For those of you who remembered what September’s table looked like (I can count you on no hands) you’ll notice that not a lot has changed. Which disappoints me, because with every month I get just a little excited to see who’s moved up and who’s moved down. It turns out that everyone has stayed roughly where they were at the end of September.

McKeown moved up from 7th to 5th, replacing East who dropped to 8th. Clay edged up a couple of places, as did Disley, and Pearson appears in the top 10 for the first time. Toto dropped from 6th to 9th. And that’s about yer lot.

Here’s what the table looks like when you order it by points per game:

Top 10 players for October 2015 based on points per gameNow, this is more interesting! Amond, like heat in a room, has risen to the top, and Gregor Robertson isn’t doing too badly in 6th. Pittman – another player who didn’t feature in the top 10 point scorers – appears here, but to be honest an average of 2.62 is pretty modest, especially when set against the hefty scores of Amond, Bogle and Arnold.

I’ll be back at the start of December (he promises) with November’s tables.
